Skytec on the road: Re-thinking disaster risk mitigation

Skytec are involved in developing the technology that helps reduce the impact of natural hazards and disasters. We consider it our job. So what does this mean for you? It means looking at how we use various engineering techniques to help prevent and then mitigate these impacts, it means asking ourselves how can we integrate best practice and then of course, most importantly, how do we ensure the community benefits from these discoveries.

Over the next few weeks Skytec is preparing to go on a Roadshow around NZ, showing the latest gains in the approach we take disaster risk mitigation. Earthquakes, storms, flooding and tsunamis are seldom cheap exercises, which is why being better prepared is a cornerstone of Skytec's work. There is a range of legislation, policy and implementation (seismic engineering etc) that can assist and some excellent research being done which focuses on improving the approach in New Zealand to such events by government, local authorities and the community at large.

It also means looking at how we use various engineering techniques to help prevent and then mitigate these impacts, it means asking ourselves how can we integrate best practice and then of course, most importantly how do we make sure the community benefits from these discoveries.

Be part of the journey to make a difference! If you are interested in having Skytec visit your Council, organisation or community, please let us know as soon as possible. Bookings are available by phone or email.
